Alix & Kelly-Unique Bridesmaids

As in the style of JCrew where you can only order their collections on-line,there are many other companies following in pace.

Alix & Kelly’s line is for the bride that is looking to buy dresses that their bridesmaids can wear again.  Most of the dress structures can be found in local bridal boutiques by other designers if you are worried about purchasing online.  We did find however, when visiting their  site 2 silhouettes that are difficult to find.

Lindsay

These two dresses are made from 100% Jersey Silk and run around $350.00.  This price decreases the more dresses you purchase.  Alix & Kelly have a large collection of different color swatches to pick from and you can order a swatch on-line for $5.00.

Stacey

All of their dresses are made to order and take about 12 weeks to come, which is the standard time frame.  Most dresses can be ordered up to size 18.

We at YPD believe that every bride deserves to look flawless on her wedding day, in a dress that she has envisioned since she was a little girl. A refined local business happens to feel the same way, as their passion is to give every one of their brides the ideal dress for her special day. This business is called The Wedding Seamstress.

The Wedding Seamstress specializes exclusively in formal dress alterations. They put a tremendous amount of time and commitment into each gown, whether it is a wedding dress, a bridesmaid’s gown, flower girl dress, or Mother of the bride gown. They provide their clients with a relaxing and calm environment in Olde Town Arvada, going as far as providing a wide array of complimentary delicious chocolates. It is safe to say that The Wedding Seamstress team makes it their mission to uphold standards far above any bride’s expectation.

One unique feature of the business is that the head seamstress, Deedee Vicory will sit down with any bride to create a custom made dress. From drawing the design to sewing the dress, Deedee truly pours her heart and soul into making the brides wishes a reality. Dresses are all specifically altered to give each bride the desired look for her wedding.

Deedee has been working in bridal for 16 years as well as acquiring an extensive background in the fashion and wedding industries. She has a love for the art of dressmaking and feels that, “the bride and her wedding dress are the centerpieces of the wedding.”

Deedee is a very talented and skilled seamstress, she could not have made The Wedding Seamstress what it is today without the help of her husband and co-owner, Justin Vicory. There is also a passionate team of seamstresses and apprentices ready to meet any needs the brides may have. Staff members wear an apron, custom-made to fit their individual personalities and to add color to the studio.

Deedee and Justin are currently leading their team in creating their own line of wedding gowns. The gowns will appear under a new label and will be sold exclusively at a new location. We will be sure to update our brides, with information about the new line as soon as it becomes available to us.

YPD is very excited to have the opportunity to introduce our brides to The Wedding Seamstress as they are a force that drives the Colorado bridal market. The shop’s outstanding work and customer service will be sure to put this business on every bride’s map. Deedee and her staff have worked endless hours to create a  name for their business. The craftsmanship exhibited by the staff has produced a strong reputation in the local bridal market. YPD is eager to see what the future holds for The Wedding Seamstress and what they have in store for the Colorado bride.

The Wedding Seamstress is located in Olde Town   Aravada at 5740 Olde Wadsworth Blvd. Unit B, Arvada, CO 80002.    Ph # 720-435-1004

In October, the bridal community gathered together in New York to see the new fashion trends set to grace bridal shops around the nation for Bridal Fashion Week Spring 2010. Representatives from Denver’s local bridal shops went to see the beautiful pieces flow on the runway, each gown at a time. Many of these designs will come to our community, as designers such as Christos, Amsale, and Claire Pettibone are all available in Colorado.

Every fashion week brings something new. Whether new colors appear, different fabrics are being used, or simple details are added, there are always new trends emerging. Trends can be innovative or recurring. Either of which would present a fresh look for the new season.

For Spring 2010, expect to see Origami-inspired designs as well as little flower detailing to add a romantic flare to wedding gowns.  Colorado bridal boutiques will be filled with metallic colors and gold accents, as these are two of the top trends that appeared on the runway. For bridal gowns this Spring, its all about one shoulder dresses and pretty sleeves, both of which were headed by up and coming designer Claire Pettibone who is sold exclusively at The Little White Dress in Castle Rock, CO. To top it all off, the timeless corset and tulle designs will come through in the spring, as both will bring a hint of spunk and edge to Colorado brides.

When all was strutted and seen, the Bridal Fashion Week was a success with each gown having its time to shine; and shine they did.  Spring is set to make its mark in the eyes of every bride. Countless hours were spent in designing the gowns and their hard work was shown in every detail. Designers make it their life to bring beauty and elegance to every bride because they feel they deserve nothing less on the most special day of their lives.

Gino Velardi Fashion Show – A Complete Success

Anticipation reached the crowd as the last minute touches were being placed for the Gino Velardi Fashion Show. Backstage was flushed with excitement as the ushers hurried to make sure every last name was placed on a front row seat. Months of preparation had finally lead to this moment. Preparation that like many others had its ups and downs, but in the end all would say the pay-off was more than expected.

Your Perfect Dress has had much experience in fashion show production. We put our foremost effort to make sure that our part in creating this fashion show helped to make it the very best. Our efforts most surely paid off. None of this would have been possible if I had not had an abundance of help backstage from YPD assistant Danae Duffy-Bricker, YPD intern Chelsea Willis, and many students from the Art Institute of Colorado. The efforts of the backstage crew were recognized by all, which made the show a complete success. There were also AiC students working as ushers, including YPD intern Jenarae Montoya. Jenarae and her fellow classmates hurried to make sure every last detail had been met and made sure everyone was as comfortable as possible.

The models from Donna Baldwin modeling agency exuded nothing but elegance and beauty. As each one graced the runway wearing the Gino Velardi masterpieces, the audience could do nothing but gaze in awe. The look of the models could not have be achieved without the work of hair guru, Charlie Price, of CLICK salon. The hairstyles were those of 1940’s Hollywood starlets and the make-up helped to round off a priceless look.

The fashion show was not only to showcase all of the hard work of Denver designer, Gino Velardi, but also went to support an unbelievable cause, Dress For Success. Dress For Success has a mission to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Before the show began, Dress For Success President Kathy Bacon presented the audience with a few words about the organization and a video displaying all of the hard work by Dress For Success. This video really helped to get the night off to a great start.

Followed was a dance performance by local burlesque dancers, that only left the crowd purely entertained. By this time, everyone sitting in INVESCO field was ready to see the main event. The music started, and the first model walked out. The crowd started to cheer as the fashion show was officially underway. Each piece was as beautiful and unique as the next. It would be a pure lie to say that people were unimpressed.

Once Gino had come on the runway to take his final round of applause the show ended with even more excitement as it had began. Everyone was thrilled with the creations and was ready to spend a night of celebration with the man himself. Many waited anxiously for Gino while they gathered around the bar enjoying a casual cocktail. All the buzz was about the show. There was not a conversation being held that was not giving praise to the work of mister Gino Velardi.

Gino came out and was greeted by a crowd of cheering family, friends, fans, and sponsors. The music from the band was blaring and all were ready to have a great night; a night to celebrate hard-work, comebacks, and of course… fashion.
